* Crescent Moon is just back from a wonderful collaboration in New York City with the Turkish American Arts Society of New York! Together on December 11th we presented an original work, "Karagoz Celebrates Christmas" at Sipsak Restaurant in Midtown Manhattan for a very enthusiastic crowd which included the Deputy Council General of Turkey and her entourage!  A truly magical evening (and incredible food!) and we sincerely thank everyone for attending.

* Crescent Moon is very pleased to be returning to the Diyanet Center of America in Lanham, Maryland on June 21st!  We are especially excited to be performing there in collaboration with our partners, the Turkish American Art Society of New York (TAASNY) who will be traveling from New York City to be part of this special event!

* Karagoz and Hacivat will also be performing at Artscape in Baltimore, Maryland on July 22nd.  Artscape is the largest free art festival in the United States.  Crescent Moon will be performing in a part of the festival grounds known as Kidscape.

*  If you will be in Washington, DC this fall, look for Crescent Moon on the grounds of the National Turkish Festival, the largest Turkish Festival in the United States! Date and times to be posted soon.

We are also very proud to have been invited to perform at the Detroit Institute of Arts, which houses one of the country's largest historic puppet collections in support of a major new installation at the Institute.  Crescent Moon Karagoz will be performing the weekend of January 27th and 28th, 2018, both Saturday and Sunday.  *** Please note: this performance has been canceled due to Cliff's scheduled hip surgery in mid January.  We hope to reschedule at the Detroit Institute of Arts later in the year and sincerely thank them for their understanding.***

In collaboration with our partners the Turkish American Art Society of New York, Crescent Moon Karagoz will be heading to Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir, Turkey in March of 2018 for the Karagoz International Puppet Festival!  More details as they develop!

We have had a great start to our season so far, and would particularly like to thank Washington International School in Washington, DC for inviting us to perform at their annual International Week; a wonderful five day festival where students and faculty alike celebrate the amazing and enriching traditions and arts of the world's diverse cultures.  Thank you again so much, Washington International School!

APRIL 2ND, 5TH AND 6TH 2017.  THE LIGHT CITY FESTIVAL IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND!  Crescent Moon Karagoz is very pleased to be part of LIGHT CITY, an explosive nine day festival event celebrating the performance arts!  Crescent Moon will be performing in the MINI LIGHT CITY ARENA in the Federal Hill area during three of those nine days.  Please check back here at our events page for exact performance times (times will be posted by the end of February) or in the performance guide available at the festival.


SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2016.  THE 14TH NATIONAL TURKISH FESTIVAL IN WASHINGTON, DC!  On Pennsylvania Avenue in the heart of Washington DC, within blocks of the U.S. Capitol, Crescent Moon is once again very happy and honored to be part of the largest Turkish festival event in the United States!  Food!  Music! Dancing! More food!!  More music!!  More dancing!!  And puppets!!!  Please check back for further details later in the summer for performance times and where we will be set up.  We will also be posting the event's promotional video when it becomes available.

October 17, 2015.  Come see Crescent Moon at the Family Day celebration at The Textile Museum at George Washington University.  The Museum is at 701 21st Street, NW in Washington, DC.  Phone:202-994-5200.  Website: Crescent Moon will be performing two shows at noon and at 1:00 PM.  Also while you are there, check out the Textile Museum's new exhibit opening October 10th, Old Patterns, New Order:  Socialist Realism in Central Asia on display until May 29, 2016. With a very successful appearance at the 12th Annual Turkish Festival in Washington, DC on September 28th, Crescent Moon has concluded its public event appearances for 2014.  We are performing at a number of school and private party bookings through to the end of the year, but those performances are not listed here.  We still have some available dates in the second half of November should an appearance be requested at a library, public event or festival, or private party, so please contact us for availability should that be of interest. 

September 28, 2014.  Crescent Moon Karagoz at the 12th Annual National Turkish Festival, Washington, DC!  Crescent Moon will be performing with shows and demos throughout the day. Come be part of the biggest Turkish Festival in the United States!  Music! Food! Dancing! More food!! More music!!! More dancing!!!  A huge Turkish Bazaar, AND TURKISH SHADOW PUPPETS!!!!  A tremendous amount of fun for everyone!  Visit the Festival's website at: for more information.  Hours of operation on Sunday the 28th are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  The event takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 12th and 14th streets, two blocks from the White House in the heart of Washington, DC.

September 14, 2014.  Crescent Moon Karagoz is very happy and proud to be part of the first Turkish Heritage Weekend at Tyson's Corner Center Plaza in McLean, Virginia! Organized by a partnership including the American Turkish Association, Tyson's Corner Center and Turkish Airlines, this three day festival (September 12th, 13th, and 14th) featuring live music, dancing, food and an authentic Turkish Bazaar is one you won't want to miss!  Crescent Moon will be performing on Sunday the 14th at various times throughout the day.  Hours of the festival on Sunday are 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Address of the event is:

Crescent Moon opens its 2014 season at the Charles County Public Library, Waldorf West Branch, 10405 O'Donnell Place, Waldorf, Maryland 20603 with a one hour performance featuring two traditional Karagoz shows, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Monday, January 27th.  Start your new year with an afternoon with Karagoz and Hacivat!  Please call the Charles County Library at 301-645-1395 for further details.

July 20, 2013.  Join us at ARTSCAPE in Baltimore, Maryland!  Crescent Moon Karagoz Shadow Puppet Theater will be part of the Shadow Camp in the NO PASSPORT REQUIRED area of the largest three day free arts festival in the United States!   Shadow Camp will showcase shadow puppet traditions from around the world.  Come join us for a day of performances, demonstrations, workshops, discussions and more!  Please check back for further updates on performances and workshop scheduling.     

April 15, 2013.  In celebration of National Library Week Crescent Moon Karagoz Shadow Puppet Theater will be appearing at the Centreville Regional Library located at 14200 Saint Germain Drive, Centreville, VA 20121. February 2, 2013 - Come see us at the Mid-winter Festival being held at The Textile Museum in association with the featured exhibition, The Sultan's Garden: The Blossoming of Ottoman Art.  Check the museum calendar page for monthly events or call The Textile Museum (202-667-0441) located at 2320 S Street NW, Washington, DC for further information.  Crescent Moon will be performing throughout the day.

***We have been informed by the American Turkish Association that the mini Turkish Festival at the National Geographic Museum on January 27th has been canceled.  Crescent Moon will not be performing that day.  Please come see us at our next event in DC on February 2nd at the Textile Museum's Mid-Winter Festival.***   

January 27, 2013 - Crescent Moon Shadow Puppet Theater will be performing at the National Geographic Museum as part of a special mini Turkish Festival in association with the current featured exhibit, 1001 Inventions: The Enduring Legacy of Muslim Civilization.  The Museum is located at 1199 17th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036 (phone: 202-857-7588).  Festival hours are 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  The festival which features traditional Turkish arts is sponsored by the American Turkish Association.

November 13, 2012 - As part of International Education Week at Howard Community College, Columbia, MD, we will be performing at Duncan Hall, once at 2 pm and again at 7:30 pm. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
